American Airlines and American Eagle Give A
Big Lift to At-Risk Students

On Saturday June 20, 2009, American Airlines and
American Eagle hosted a seminar that presented
the opportunities available in aviation for
at-risk kids in the Dallas and Tarrant County
school systems. The venue was the Dallas
Executive Airport (KRBD). 102 kids ranging from
13-18 years of age flooded the terminal building
and surrounding tarmac to see and meet minority
pilots, flight attendants and mechanics employed

Homeland Security Does Not See GA As A Major
Threat
General Aviation Operations Present a Limited
Threat to Security; However, Steady Vigilance
Must Be Maintained The current status of GA
operations does not present a serious homeland
security vulnerability requiring TSA to increase

New FBO for ABIA
For years now, there has been a severe lack of
GA facilities at Austin Bergstrom International
Airport (AUS). Finally, after several years of
work between TXAA and the GA subcommittee of the
Austin Airport Advisory Commission, a Request
For Proposal (RFP) has been published by city
staff. This RFP allows for any company or
individual with experience to submit their
proposal to build a new Fix Base of Operations
at ABIA.

A small general aviation airport just outside
Pflugerville built in the 1960s will soon become
a major reliever airport in Central Texas.
