Bill Gunn
Advisor to the Board of
Directors
Bill Gunn is the
Director for Systems and
Training for the Texas
Department of
Transportation, Aviation
Division.
A 21 year USAF
veteran, Bill flew RF4C
aircraft in the Vietnam
war and holds the
Distinguished Flying
Cross and the Air Medal
with eleven Oak Leaf
clusters. Bill is an
Airline Transport Pilot,
Certificated Flight
Instrument Instructor,
Multi Engine Flight
Instructor, and former
FAA Safety Team
counselor.
Bill has 7600
flying hours in gliders
and airplanes from
biplanes to corporate
jets. Bill is a
professional aviation
lecturer and teaches
flight instructor
refresher clinics for
the AOPA Air Safety
Foundation throughout
the USA. In 1993, Bill
was named the FAA
Southwest Region CFI of
the year. |

Bill flew as a professional air
show pilot in the United Kingdom
from 1976 to 1979. In March of
2001, Bill represented the
Aircraft Owners and Pilots
Association Air Safety
Foundation in Australia at test
flight instructor clinics. Bill
helped start the Texas Aviation
Association, an aviation
advocacy group that supports
general aviation in Texas.
Bill is a current aircraft owner
and flies regularly for work and
pleasure, including precision
formation air show venues with
the Falcon Flight demonstration
team all across the USA.
Bill lives in Lakeway, near
Austin, Texas, has two grown
sons from a previous marriage,
and is currently engaged to Jill
R W Newcomb of Austin.
Bill holds a Master of Science
degree from Troy University,
Europe, and is a former guest
lecturer at the USAF Air
University. |
