Charlie Thompson
Charlie Thompson
graduated from the
Georgia Institute of
Technology in 1978 with
B.E.E. degree and is an
engineer by profession
with 32 years of
semiconductor circuit
design and management
experience. He has
worked for multiple
Austin companies
including Cirrus Logic
and Silicon
Laboratories. For the
past 4 years he has
operated his own
technology consulting
company. He is the
inventor/co-inventor of
16 U.S. Patents.
He took his first flying
lesson in a Grumman AA1
Yankee on July 11, 1973
at age 19. After a total
of 6 lessons he ran out
of time and money as he
attended college and
raised a family. Charlie
kept his little log book
from 1973 and vowed to
fly again some day. The
next entry in that same
logbook was December
1st, 2006, almost 34
years later, followed by
his Private certificate
on April 5th, 2008 and
his Instrument rating in
September of 2009. Now,
he is again flying a
Grumman (AA 5B Tiger)
that he co-owns with
four other pilots.
