Beginning on March 27, 2010, The
South Central Chapter of the
American Association of Airport
Executives met in at the Overton
Hotel and Conference Center in
Lubbock, Texas, for their annual
conference. The conference ran
for five days. The title of the
event was “Winds of Change.”
West Texas windy weather greeted
attendees on day two’s golf
tournament and mentor meetings
but the weather soon became
beautiful and guests enjoyed
good food and knowledgeable
speakers from across the nation. |

W. Loomis, Director of Aviation at
Lubbock Preston Smith International
Airport welcomed the audience on day
three along with
Walt Strong, SCC-AAAE President from Max
Westheimer Airport. Also speaking on
legislative issues, AAAE and FAA
updates were John Duval, AAAE
Chairman, Charles Barclay, President
of AAAE and Mike Nicely, Texas ADO,
FAA Southwest Region out of Ft.
Worth. Special recognition went to
Fred Underwood, a strong supporter
of general aviation in Texas.
Peter Boler, President of American Eagle
Airlines also spoke about the future of
regional airlines. Thomas Wade, FAA
South Region headed up the GIS Session.
Other speakers included Bonnie Deger of
Ricondo and Association who spoke about
airport finance-non airline revenue and
Jeff Bilyeu, AAE Director of Aviation
from Brazoria County who led a general
aviation roundtable session.
The conference ended with a farewell
breakfast at the Overton Hotel.
